Not long after the announcement of a new solo single, Miki Fujimoto is now starring in her first play. Directed by Masamichi Sugita, it is a revival of playwright Kensuke Yokouchi’s “HAKANA.” It was previously performed in 2002 with Haruka Igawa in the lead role, a performance that earned her a Golden Arrow Award.
The story revolves around Hakana, a beautiful woman born from a baby’s soul placed inside a body made from corpses. She becomes an oiran (courtesan) who has mastered the art of making men happy, but she is unable to have intimate relationships or else her body will melt away.
The play will run at the Meijiza in Tokyo on April 18-27.

It was announced today that Miki will be recording a single entitled Oki Tegami. The single will also be recorded by fellow Up-Front singer Horiuchi Takao, who has appeared on a few Uta Doki! episodes. He is in the right of the picture, in the middle is song writer Sugimoto Masato. According to the article, the song won’t be in the pop music vein, but more akin to a children’s song. The producer describes the song as a “Japanese-Style Chanson”.
It seems that there will be two singles released simultaneously: One will be Fujimoto Miki’s version of Oki Tegami, and the other will be Horiuchi Takao’s version. “Fujimoto is looking forward to the chart battle with her senpai.”

“This song was really difficult. It was different from what I used to sing until now, so please look forward for this new Fujimoto Miki.”
“My mom told me not to cause any trouble to Horiuchi-san.”
The single is scheduled to release on April 23, 2008.
